The city's noise rules allow repair work on a house from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Outside those hours it needs a permit. Mowers and leaf blowers may run in the daytime, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (City Code, Chapter 5).

Old furniture can go to the curb as a bulky load: four cubic yards, about two couches, for $35 a load since April 1, 2026. Book it at 919-996-3245. Cardboard, yard waste and construction debris don't go in it.

Only 3.8% of Raleigh's homes were built before 1950, but they bunch up inside the Beltline: a third of the homes in 27608, around Five Points, are that old. Walls from then are often plaster, so put the year of the house in a post about hanging or patching.

Nothing. You write what you would pay, that number is in front of the pro before the phone rings, and the two of you agree on the price on that call. You pay the pro, and HandsNearby takes no cut.

If a pro accepts your job, they're asked to call within 30 minutes. When that half hour passes with no call, another pro near your ZIP gets it. A post written late at night goes out in the morning.
