Terms of use
Last updated September 28, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and HandsNearby ("HandsNearby", "we", "us") for using handsnearby.com and the HandsNearby Pro app. By posting a job or using either, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use HandsNearby.
What HandsNearby does
HandsNearby connects people who need help with labor only jobs (moving help, hauling, furniture assembly, yard work, cleaning and odd jobs) with independent pros nearby. You post a job, one pro who covers your area takes it, and that pro calls you. You and the pro agree on the day, the work and the price.
HandsNearby does not do the work, does not employ the pros, and is not a party to any agreement between you and a pro. Pros are independent businesses. They are responsible for their own work, tools, licenses, insurance, permits and taxes. HandsNearby does not check licenses, insurance or backgrounds, and does not guarantee the quality, safety or timing of any job.
Posting a job
- You must be 18 or older and post a real job for yourself or for a place you have the right to arrange work at.
- Give accurate details and a mobile number you use. We confirm the number with a one time code.
- Posting is free. By posting, you agree that HandsNearby and the pro who takes your job can call and email you about it, and that the pro can text you. Texts from HandsNearby are separate and optional (see Text messages below). Agreeing is not a condition of any purchase.
- There is no guarantee that a pro takes your job. The pro who takes it is asked to call you within 30 minutes; if they don't, we may send the job to another pro. A job posted late at night goes out in the morning.
- You can cancel a job at any time. If a pro has already taken it, please tell the pro too.
- We may turn down or remove a job that looks like spam, is outside the work pros take on, or breaks these terms.
Price and payment
HandsNearby charges customers nothing. The price is whatever you and the pro agree on, and you pay the pro directly (cash, card, transfer, or however you both choose). We add no fee and take no share of it. Any refund, deposit or dispute about the work or the price is between you and the pro.
For pros
Pros also accept the HandsNearby Pro Subscriber Agreement in the app when they apply. It covers plans, billing, leads, credits and account rules, and it applies alongside these terms. Pros must follow the law when they contact customers and do the work, and may use a customer's details only for the job they took.
Text messages
HandsNearby job updates are texts about a job you posted: its status link, a check that the pro reached you, and a follow up after the job. You get them only if you tick the box for texts on the job form; it's optional.
- Up to 3 texts per job. Message frequency varies with your job.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to cancel at any time; you'll get one text confirming it. Reply HELP for help, or email info@handsnearby.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How we handle your number is in our privacy policy. We never share text messaging opt in data or consent with third parties.
Using HandsNearby fairly
Please don't:
- post fake jobs, jobs for someone else without their say, or anything illegal;
- harass, threaten or mislead a customer or a pro;
- use a customer's or pro's details for anything other than the job;
- copy the site, scrape it, send automated posts, or try to get around its limits or security.
We may suspend or close access for anyone who does.
If something goes wrong
HandsNearby is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not responsible for what a pro or a customer does, says or fails to do, or for any job, damage, injury or loss that comes from it.
To the fullest extent the law allows, HandsNearby's total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid HandsNearby in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
You agree to cover HandsNearby for claims that come from your own breach of these terms or your dealings with a pro or a customer, to the extent the law allows.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms. We update the date at the top, and if a change matters, we tell you by email before it applies to you. You can stop using HandsNearby at any time.
